How popular is a name in 13 countries?

Type a first name and see where it ranks in the official baby name lists of 13 countries, for every year from 2021 to 2025, side by side. Where a country also publishes regional figures, the result shows the regions in which the name is among the first three. Every number comes from the statistics office or registry that published it; nothing is estimated.

How to read the result

Each small chart is one country. The line shows the name's rank in each year, with #1 at the top; the scale is stretched at the top so that moves within the top ten stay visible. A gap in the line means the country published that year but the name was not in its list. A grey column means the country has not published that year yet. Compare a second name and both lines share the same charts. The same figures are available as a table below the result.

The national lists cover the top 50 names per sex. Germany is the exception: its only nationwide list, from the Gesellschaft für deutsche Sprache, has 10 names per sex. A name that is missing from a country can still be given there; it just was not frequent enough to make the published list. The latest year is 2025 for most countries; Canada, Italy and Spain (2024) had not published a newer year when the data was last retrieved.

Spellings are counted the way the offices count them. Sofia and Sophia are two names, as are Muhammad and Mohammed. Accents are ignored when matching, so Léo in France and Leo elsewhere count as one name, and the Spanish office writes names without accents in the first place.

The United Kingdom stands for England and Wales, which publish together. Canada is the sum of Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. How each list is compiled is described on its source list and on the country pages.
